While hiking in New Hampshire this summer, I found a digital camera at the bottom of a river. Although the camera was completely destroyed, I was able to carefully take it apart and safely recover the photos from its memory chip. THE SOLE PURPOSE OF THIS BLOG IS TO REUNITE THE CAMERA'S OWNER WITH THEIR PHOTOS.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteYou might want to post where you found that camera to aid the camera's owner in locating it.
Cheers.
-Drew.
Thanks. Great idea. I just edited the story text a bit, mentioning that I found it near the walkway bridge near the Basin. (The Basin is a natural stone formation, making a water basin for the river that rushes through it. It is one of the tourist stops along the Franconia Notch highway in New Hampshire.)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
can't wait to see how this ends! what a cool thing that you found it with all the pics and videos intact. good luck!!
ReplyDeletehave you seen http://www.ifoundyourcamera.blogspot.com/? i wonder if you'd maybe link there and let someone know you're here...perhaps the owners are searching there...?
ReplyDeleteGood job and good luck!
ReplyDeletemaybe you could post it on craigs list
ReplyDeletewith one of the photos
I wish I knew how you posted multiple pics in one blogger post....but can't help you with the camera.
ReplyDeleteI think it's great, what you're doing for this family. One photo was at the ocean, and another, the mother holding her baby looked like she might be wearing a Maine sweatshirt. Have you thought of posting it on the Maine Craig list? Hope this helps you find the owner. Good luck! You're very kind. Anon

ReplyDeletei was hopeful but not the right one! my daughter lost one...had pictures of her baby tara being born.....my b day in feb. them returning from misowa air base in jpan.....air force jets.....little rock ark. and bow nh on it. in case these people in photos may be friends i dont know of hers...she is in england now. let me know if any sound right plus thank you anyways for finding SOMEONES even if it isnt hers....it was lost 3 yrs ago or so.
ReplyDeletedarn i will send you my mail on craigs list ad
ReplyDeleteLook at the picture with the woman holding the baby. The woman next to her has a band on her wrist with number 04709. Could send some e-mails to hospitals
ReplyDeletealso...You can almost make out writing on that band. Maybe a name? Need a good piece of software to enlarge with better clarity.
ReplyDeleteAssuming the camera's clock was set correctly, you should be able to pull EXIF data and determine the date and time of the shots. That may provide a pointer to help you locate the owner. Also, some cameras allow you to set an owner name which may get encoded into the EXIF as well.
ReplyDeleteIn the photo with the woman holding the newborn, the baby's footprint sheet is in the background on the heater. It looks as though there is a logo on the top right hand corner of that sheet. That combined with the date of the photo and the ID# on the woman's hospital bracelet should get you close (if the hospital will release any info or maybe even contact the family for you).
ReplyDeleteyou should check out ifoundyourcamera.blogspot.com. It's a cite just for this purpose. Nice coverage on WMUR by the way (that's where I just saw the story and decided to offer this tip for the other blogspot)
ReplyDeletegreat stuff - saw this floating around on twitter and re-tweeted, also posted to my blog. Hopefully the wonder of the interweb will reunite the owner with their photos and videos.
ReplyDeletegood luck!
I blogged about this as well and linked to you - I hope you are able to reunite the owner with their camera!
ReplyDeleteHow cool. I love that you did this. Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great thing to do!!!
ReplyDeletethat is great! I once bought a card for my camera at a thrift store and it was loaded with photos and I wondered if it had been donated on accident. I did my own investigating. In one of the photos there was a puppy with tags so I blew up the photo on photo shop, called the # and found the owner's parents.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to be a private eye after that.
:-)
hope you find these people!!
so kewl that your doing this. we went to the basin this summer. Read about this on the NMD forum (were in southern NH) I will post it and make a link too on my blog. Hope you find them.
ReplyDeleteI think u should post the classroom picture on here, someone might recognize that. Or even one of the birthday pictures, if its a party picture someone might recognize someone in it that may know who the camera belongs to ..
ReplyDeletealso try camerafound.com
ReplyDeletecan u please post more of the pictures?
ReplyDeleteThe first image sort of looks like an area in MArgate Resort, in Laconia, NH, about an hour from the Basin.
ReplyDeleteIn the hospital photo, the woman holding the baby might be wearing a UNE sweatshirt- (university of New England)...
ReplyDeletelike this one: (link to UNE bookstore)

If it is UNE,... maybe post the picture somewhere on campus or on an online bullitan board??
I'm glad the owner could be found!
ReplyDeleteSo, how did they find you? Please tell us the details, It could help future camera scavengers to better be found
I have been asking around. i wish someone like you had found my Nikon Coolpix camera that i lost on Febuary 14 sometime in between 10:00pm-10:30pm. In Orange County, California... probley in a cab. Well, i know California, someone most likely took it to keep for them selfs. but the joke is on them... they don't have the charger
